The Glorious Feast of the Resurrection is the crown of all the feasts in the Coptic Orthodox Church, for we are able through Christ’s resurrection to say, “ ‘O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?’ The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:55-57). The icon depicts the Risen Christ in white clothing, bearing the wounds of the nails in His wrists and feet. He victoriously bears the cross in His hands, declaring the restoration of mankind back to its former glory. Thus, by His death, He overcame death, and granted the believers eternal life in His kingdom as heirs and children of God the Father.
