St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church is served by Fr. Bishoy George. This is the first of four Houston area Coptic Orthodox churches and a member of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of the Southern United States under the auspices of H.G. Bishop Youssef. Additionally it was one of the first Coptic Orthodox Churches built in the United States when it was completed in 1977. Over the last 33 years, the congregation of the church has continued to grow, and currently numbers over 270 families. To better serve the congregation, a large scale expansion began in 2008, and on November 1, 2009 the first liturgy was conducted in the new church building.
